If you teach health sciences students, you need to join the national movement toward including emergency preparedness in your curriculum!

CAAHEP Workshop:

Teaching the Unthinkable

Come learn from the AMA, Nova Southeastern University and others.

Workshops are scheduled for Las Vegas and Orlando

Additional "Teaching the Unthinkable" workshops may be scheduled

"Teaching the Unthinkable" is a CAAHEP workshop especially for Program Directors, Faculty and Administrators of Health Sciences Education Programs -- an opportunity to catch up with the latest developments in emergency preparedness and to think carefully about how to teach entry-level students about this development. Learn from experts and from other conference attendees!

TEACHING THE UNTHINKABLE

KEYNOTE: Why Teach Health Professionals about Emergency Preparedness? This session includes a peek at emerging CAAHEP Standards language.

The workshop agenda includes examples of existing training efforts and curricula -- including the AMA's NATIONAL DISASTER LIFE SUPPORT PROGRAM and Nova Southeastern University's DISASTER PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM that serves students in 7 professions.

Meet the editor of the first (and only) textbook in this emerging field: EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONALS. CAAHEP is supplying each workshop attendee with a personal copy of the book!

Enjoy time and opportunities for questions, for sharing with colleagues and experts, and for debating issues during roundtable sessions.

Additional opportunity: CAAHEP will publish "Teaching the Unthinkable: The DVD" in March, adapted from the first Teaching the Unthinkable workshop conducted in October, 2007. It will be useful for staff development. And some components will be useful with students. Price will be $139. Buy it along with your conference registration for $79; you'll save $60.

Contact CAAHEP for more information about the workshops: Call:   (727) 210-2350
